"A Million Dreams"

SETTING THE STAGE

This page has been tailor-made for PDA's "Setting the Stage" (Act 1, Act 2, and Encore!) class parents, grandparents, and caregivers. Here you will find answers to questions pertaining to Picture Day on May 19th, the Awards & Run-Through on June 2nd and your dancer's Dress Rehearsal and show(s) on June 8th. We hope you find this page helpful!

Answers to the most frequently asked questions:

When will my child perform?

Act 1 performs on Saturday, June 8th at the 1:00 PM show!

Act 2 and Encore! perform on Saturday, June 8th at BOTH the 1:00 AND 5:00 PM shows!

What performance should I purchase tickets for?

If your dancer is in Act 1, purchase tickets for the Saturday, June 8th at the 1:00 PM show.

If your dancer is in Act 2 or Encore!, purchase tickets for either the Saturday, June 8th at the 1:00 or the 5:00 PM show...or both.

If my child is in Act 2 or Encore! do I have to attend both performances?

Due to their young age, a parent or guardian should remain at the Maumee High School while their Setting the Stage dancer is performing.  Many parents purchase tickets to watch one show and volunteer to help at the opposite performance.  Sometimes parents have dad watch one show and mom watch the other.  There are many combinations of how parents approach performance days.  None of them are right or wrong. Just do what is best for you and your child.

How do I volunteer to help at the recital and what will I be asked to do?

We will be posting a link to our SignUpGenius volunteer sign-up page soon! Parents are asked to assist with a wide variety of volunteer positions--room mom, fast change mom, usher/ticket taker, to name a few.

What should my child wear to the performance?

All Setting the Stage dancers should arrive at the theater on Saturday, June 8th, at NOON dressed in their costume with their hair and makeup (if any) already done.  Don't forget to bring their dance shoes!

Is there a Picture "Makeup" Day?

No, there is no makeup day for Picture Day.

How long does it take to get my dancer's pictures back?

It usually takes around 3-4 weeks for the studio order to arrive.

Where do I pick up my dancer's pictures?

Parents can pick up their dancer's pictures at the studio.

How will I know my pictures have arrived?

We will send an email when they arrive and post on the studio Facebook page as well.

SETTING THE STAGE CLASSES

SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2019

1:00PM

ALL Setting the Stage classes are performing in the Saturday, June 7th, 1:00PM show.  Act 1 dancers only perform in this show. Act 2 and Encore classes also perform in the 5:00PM show.

After the 12:00PM Setting the Stage Dress Rehearsal, please have your dancer take a quick bathroom break. Check their costume, hair, and makeup one last time and proceed to the hallway leading to the backstage area.  Signs will be hanging on the walls with the name of each Setting the Stage dance routine as well as the class and teacher's name.  Look for your child's classroom sign.  There will be a sign-in sheet hanging on the wall, please sign your child in and wait for the volunteer parent to arrive (if they haven't already).  This person/these people will be sitting in the audience with your child's class when the dancers are not needed backstage.

PLEASE ASK YOUR CHILD ONE LAST TIME if they need a bathroom break.  Before leaving to find your own seat, reassure your child that you will be in the audience cheering them on and that you will see them right after the show.

After the performance has ended, all Setting the Stage dancers will be brought back on stage to be picked up by their parents.  After the show has ended, please come to the front of the stage to collect your child! Do not encourage them to jump off of the front of the stage as other children might follow suit and get injured!

If you haven't already purchased your tickets you may do so here: https://www.tututix.com/client/perrysburgdanceacademy/ or at the door (tickets at the door are $17.00). If you would like to help backstage or in the house, you can sign up to volunteer (information has already been emailed to parents).

If your child is performing in the 5:00PM show, please be aware that they should be back in place getting ready for their second performance at 4:30PM.

5:00PM

If your child is in the classes called Act 2 or Encore, then your child is performing in the 5:00PM show (as well as the 1:00PM show). Please have your dancer relax between the shows.  You can take them out of their costume if you are concerned that they might get it dirty. Bring a light snack and a bottle of water (or other clear liquid) for them to enjoy during the break between shows.

Around 4:00PM, you should be sure to take a bathroom break, get your dancer back into their costume, check their hair and makeup one last time, and proceed to the hallway leading to the backstage area by 4:30PM.

Just like at the 1:00PM show, signs will be hanging on the walls with the name of each Setting the Stage dance routine as well as the class and teacher's name.  Look for your child's classroom sign.  There will be a sign-in sheet hanging on the wall, please sign your child in and wait for the volunteer parent to arrive (if they haven't already).  This person/these people will be sitting in the audience with your child's class when the dancers are not needed backstage.
