Hello Setting the Stage Families:

The Nutcracker performance is just around the corner!  This is an exciting and busy time, so hopefully, this email can provide you with some answers to questions you may have.  Carrie Cline and Elizabeth Rairigh are helping to organize the Setting the Stage dancers during the Nutcracker shows. They both have dancers in the Encore class on Tuesdays at 4:45pm.  Please see them if you have any further questions regarding Nutcracker and your Setting the Stage dancer.

Nutcracker dates, times, and information for  your little dancer:

Friday, December 6th - 5:30pm - 6:00pm

  • Dress Rehearsal at Maumee Performing Arts Center (MPAC)

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early

  • Have your dancer dressed and ready to perform

Friday, December 6th - 6:00pm

  • Volunteer Meeting in the lobby of MPAC, led by Carrie and Elizabeth.

*Anyone is welcome to join at the start of the meeting if you have some general questions or just want to see the drop off location for your dancer.

Saturday December 7th - 2:00pm and/or 6:00pm

  • Nutcracker Performance

  • Please drop your dancer off at the Setting the Stage "lounge area" 30 minutes prior to showtime by the double doors on the west end of the lobby with Elizabeth (2:00pm) or Carrie (6:00pm).

  • Please take your dancer to the restroom prior to drop off, it would be greatly appreciated!

  • Your dancer needs to be dressed in their costume and dance shoes.

  • Very minimal makeup for your dancer- blush and tinted gloss - just enough to make them feel special :) NO MASCARA or EYELINER as they sometimes rub their eyes and accidentally give themselves a "blackeye".

  • Hair - Pony tail with their hairpiece as instructed by teacher (this came in a separate email to each individual class or you will receive information at the Dress Rehearsal)

  • Please do not leave any bags, food, jackets, etc. with your child.

  • Pick up will take place at the same location as drop off immediately following the performances.

  • Between performances: There is a decent gap between both performances. We recommend bringing a meal or a heavy snack for your child. If interested, there is an option to order Panera boxed lunches. Please see the order sheet, which can be picked up at the front desk at PDA. This order form needs to be returned by December 2nd along with your payment, so act fast!

We are in need of VOLUNTEERS for both performances.  We would like to have TWO volunteers per Setting the Stage class to ensure that things run smoothly.  The volunteer would be provided with a list of dancers in the class they were monitoring, along with the order to line the dancers up before their routine performs.

The volunteer would be required to:

  • Monitor their group of dancers during the performance (includes restroom breaks)

  • Line the dancers up backstage before they perform

  • Meet their group after their performance and take them back to the waiting area

  • Line the dancers up for the finale

  • Volunteer may watch their group from the wings backstage if they wish

How to sign up to volunteer:

  • Open the Sign-up Genius link here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A094CAAAA29A7F94-nutcracker1

  • Find your dancer’s class by searching the name of the song they are performing to and the time that you would like to volunteer for (2pm or 6pm)

  • Choose which show you’d like to volunteer for (make sure it isn’t the one you have tickets for)

  • Enter and Submit your name to volunteer.

If you are unable to volunteer, we are also taking donations of coloring books, crayons, activity books, blank paper, etc. to keep the Setting the Stage dancers occupied during the show backstage when they are not performing.

We cannot wait for the Nutcracker and to see our tiny dancers on stage.  If you have any further questions after this information letter, please see Miss Pam or Elizabeth or Carrie.  We would all be glad to help and answer anything!
